There is alot of Maritime history in the region. One of my favorite things to do is tour light houses.
There are three in the area. One is about an hour south and there are two nearby just accross the state line in
Washington State. These can be seen from Sunset Beach at night. One is North Head and the other is the Cape Disappointment
light. You can always hike around the lighthouses during the day and take in the great views. Tours are available
